The Original 19 March 1996 Press Release
Music as Intellectual Stimulation
|
|
The A.D. compilation series was released in suitably understated
fashion, embracing non-specific genre experimentation and a forward
looking disregard for fashion and compartmentalism. Yet to describe
this music simply as experimental is missing the point. Elements of
warmth and emotion pervade these layered electronic and atmospheric
outposts. There are nine tracks; they can merge with their surroundings
or insinuate a strange inspirational calm into human listeners and their
environment. If the term "Ambient" describes an ever evolving musical genre derived from multiple origins, then THREE A.D. manages to reflect this more than capably with a remarkable diversity of electronic styles and moods, whilst avoiding the dark miserablism of an industrial, isolationist agenda. |
